As Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs expand, the number one hurdle quickly becomes staffing. Traditionally, it takes one pilot to operate one drone. That meant that as the program scales, so does staffing, in a linear fashion. This is simply unsustainable and holds back many DFR programs.

Skydio has broken this cost curve by enabling one pilot to operate multiple drones at the same time. And to do so safely, effectively and inline with emerging FAA requirements. The impact is a massive reduction in staffing requirements for DFR programs everywhere.

In this session, Skydio’s Director of Aviation Regulatory Affairs Jakee Stoltz will discuss the process for FAA multi-drone waivers, giving pilots the authority to fly more than one drone at a time. He’ll be joined by Sujoy Banerjee, Director of Product Management at Skydio to show the audience how Skydio Autonomy makes flying multiple drones safe and simple. You’ll learn how agencies apply, what the FAA evaluates, and what an approved multi-drone BVLOS waiver actually allows you to do in practice. They’ll also share some early insights from operators like LVMPD who have been conducting multi-drone operations now for over a month.

What you’ll learn:

  1. The specific FAA waiver pathway for one-to-many BVLOS operations
  2. What the FAA evaluates before granting approval
  3. What operational authority approval unlocks in practice
  4. How Skydio Autonomy reduces pilot workload and makes multi-drone operations simple and safe
  5. How multi-drone authority changes DFR staffing and usage models

If your agency is preparing to expand DFR coverage, this session will clarify how to scale legally and sustainably.
