Beyond the Baseline: Achieving Precision Mapping with Skydio’s RTK/PPK Technology

Jason is the Director of Product Marketing at Skydio, a leading U.S. drone manufacturer known for its advancements in autonomous flight. He specializes in the realm of hand-launched drones, playing a crucial role in defining the market presence of Skydio's innovative products. His professional background includes significant roles at major tech firms such as Axon and Microsoft, as well as a multitude of early stage technology startups. Jason holds an MBA from Gonzaga University and is a certified Part 107 drone pilot.

Carlos Femmer is the Director of Data Acquisition at HDR, where he leads the company's survey and data acquisition services across various sectors. He utilizes drones for critical infrastructure inspections, digital twin creation, surveying, and mapping. With over 15 years in the energy industry, Carlos previously served as VP, COO, and President of John Chance Land Surveys (Fugro), overseeing land survey and airborne divisions. He is skilled in strategic planning, operations, and financial management. Carlos serves on the boards of LOGA and INGAA, is a member of LSU's Dean's Advisory Council.

Ted is the CEO of SkyDeploy, a drone service provider based in Canada. Ted has gained hands-on experience from difficult, drone-based inspections over the past 6 years. Through this work he has uncovered insights about what end users want and pain points data collectors face in the field. He has become an expert in the procedures required for successful analysis and 3D reconstruction of drone collected data. He is also a college professor and teaches these subjects at the post-graduate level. He is currently involved in various academic research projects on the topic and is passionate about the trajectory of this technology.

Jamie Davis received a BA in Anthropology and a BA in Mathematics from Ohio University, as well as a GIS Masters Certificate from Penn State University. Jamie worked as a professional archaeologist for ten years and began creating UAS based photogrammetry models of historic buildings and prehistoric earthworks in 2014. Jamie began working at the Ohio UAS Center in May of 2019 and specializes in the collection and processing of UAS remote sensing data. Jamie has helped the Ohio UAS Center establish procedures in the collection of UAS based magnetometer, ground penetrating radar, radiation source detection, LiDAR, survey photogrammetry, and 3D modelling.
